Each year, scholarships are offered to selected students, of Pearl River High School,who demonstrate thecharacteristics and qualities that guided Billy's life, including a passion for friendship. In keeping with the spirit of Billy, we are asking applicants to submit a 300-500 word essay on “What Friendship Means To Me”, explaining what these qualities mean to them, stating how they have demonstrated the qualities in their own life, and how they intend to pursue their academic and/or athletic goals in the context of friendship and love of life. The essay should include your experiences with having a good friend or being a good friend during your high school years. This essay contest is limited to seniors. Two winners will be chosen with each winner receiving a $1,000.00 scholarship to be used toward furthering their education. Your essay should include a cover letter with contact information such as your name, address and phone number, your birth date and the last 4 digits of your social security number (to be used to keep the essays anonymous) and should have a heading identifying it as “The Billy Kayser Friendship Essay”. On a separate sheet, submit your essay with ONLY YOUR BIRTHDAY and SS# (last 4 digits) on it.
